Hello! My name is Mrs. Shawn. I am a licensed child care provider located in Charles County - Waldorf, Maryland. I resigned from the federal government in which I served 20 years of service to open a family-oriented child care because I have the desire to teach children and see them thrive and grow in a safe, happy, and kid friendly environment. After a long and tedious process of completing the state licensing requirements, the Maryland State Department of Education issued me a certificate of registration to operate a family child care in my home; and, I am so excited to provide child care services for my community. As a part of the state of Maryland's educational requirements, I have taken the required early childhood learning development courses. In addition, I am CPR and First Aid certified and have an emergency preparedness plan available.
1st Beginnings Family Child Care offers a range of toys, recreational and educational materials to meet the needs of your child's growing and learning experience. Activities include language/literacy, arts and crafts, outdoor play, manipulatives (i.e., items that students use to support hands-on learning), social studies, math, science, dramatic play, music/rhythm, and more. The children will also have an opportunity to explore and learn lessons through ABCmouse.com. It is an educational website for children ages two through six. It offers a full online curriculum for kids in Pre-K, Kindergarten. I strongly believe that children learn though active play and exploration. We are also a pet and smoke free single-family home owners with a large fenced backyard.
I am very excited to teach your toddler and/or preschooler in preparing them for Kindergarten. Also, I assistance with potty training which is plus!
