Identification Policy Title: Prevention & Identification of Child Maltreatment 1. Objective To ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children in care by proactively preventing, recognizing, and responding to signs of maltreatment¿including shaken baby syndrome and abusive head trauma¿in strict compliance with 55 Pa. Code Chapter¿3270 and DHS mandates. 2. Scope This policy applies to all facility staff¿including substitutes and volunteers¿engaged in child supervision, care, or operations. 3. Legal Foundation Under §¿3270.21, facility conditions must not endanger children's health or safety. Regulations require staff to complete mandated training on SBS/AHT and maltreatment before unsupervised childcare duties and annually thereafter. Training Requirements Pre-service Training: Must include prevention of SBS/AHT and child maltreatment, completed before unsupervised duties commence.
