A safe indoor and outdoor environment was not provided for the children. In Space 1B, a room used for children one year of age, a section of room divider greater than ten feet in length was observed to be missing metal baseboards, making areas accessible that are not only sharp to the touch, but that a child’s hand or foot could get caught in. Cords were observed hanging from infant swings onto the floor in Space 2AB that pose a potential safety hazard. In Space 3A, plastic bags were observed in three drawers and on one shelf that were accessible to children two years of age. Weedblock was observed emerging from the surfacing on the playground used by toddlers and preschoolers, presenting both a potential tripping and choking hazard. The edge of the base of the building on the left side of the playground facing away from the building was observed to be cracked and sharp to the touch. Four cracked holes/cracked areas were observed in the vinyl siding of the building on the left side of the playground facing away from the building that were sharp to the touch. Four cracked holes/cracked areas were observed in the plastic fencing lining the back of the playground at the top of the hill that were sharp to the touch. A small crack was observed on a plastic picnic table that was sharp to the touch. A drainage area is covered by a grate on the playground that is lower than the surrounding ground area, presenting a potential tripping hazard. A broken part of a toy vehicle and a broken decorative umbrella were observed on the playground. These two items were removed from the playground by Ms. Tucker during the visit. |
