| All corrosive agents, pesticides, bleaches, detergents, cleansers, polishes, any product which is under pressure in an aerosol dispenser, and any substance which may be hazardous to a child if ingested, inhaled, or handled were not stored in a locked room or cabinet. A large cabinet containing hazardous materials labeled Keep Out of Reach of Children with additional warnings, inclusive of, but not limited to bulk bottles of hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and Gorilla Glue, was observed to be unlocked. Although completely unlatched and unlocked, this cabinet was secured with a child safety latch, as opposed to an approved lock with key. Additionally, a sticky bug trap was observed on the floor of a small entranceway that children use to access the playground. This sticky trap was completely filled with dead bugs. | |||

| Prior to employment a Criminal Background Check was not completed. The Criminal Background Check for new principal, Derick Sheets, had not been completed. The NC Pre-K Coordinator for Surry County Schools stated that the principal confirmed with her via email yesterday, 10/26/2022, that he had completed his fingerprints and begun the CBC process. The principal may not enter this classroom until he receives a CBC qualification date. | |||
