A summary of the NC Child Care Law was not posted in a prominent place in the center. One staff person posted this in the hallway during the visit.

The center did not have developmentally appropriate equipment and materials accessible daily. There were not three different toys available to children in each activity areas for preschool age children or not enough toys for three children. In space 4, there were no block toys, no book/language toys, no manipulative toys and no art toys at all. During the visit, Mr. Burton and Ms. Cook added toys and equipment to correct all of the above activity centers. In space 6, there was only one item to play with in the book/language area. During the visit, Ms. Cook added two more items to the area, correcting the violation.

The written feeding plan was not modified as the child's needs changed. In space 1, one infant's feeding schedule stated that he was to be fed formula and oatmeal, however the child was eating table food and the form had not been changed.

Safe pick-up and delivery procedures were not communicated to parents and/or were not posted where they can be seen by the parents. One staff person put the Safe Pick Up and Delivery Policy on the hallway wall during the visit, correcting this item.

A safe indoor and outdoor environment was not provided for the children. There were three tricycles that had broken seats and baskets on the playground. There was one flower pot that was broken and within reach of children on the playground. There was a styrofoam cup that had been torn into many small pieces on the playground. There was a sandbox with metal hinges in the seating area which were very hot to the touch in the playground area. There was a blue rug with a large rip in it in space 4. There was a broken container for toys in space 6. All of these items were removed from the center or disposed of during the visit.

A First Aid information sheet was not posted in a place for referral and/or the information sheet did not include all the required information. One staff person posted this in the hallway during the visit.
