Findings: The provider has all the forms for the children on her computer. She was able to show the specialist the emergency forms, however, the regulation states that they should be readily accessible, including during off-site activities. This means if the provider goes for walks she does not have the paper form to take with her. It also means that her substitute may not have access to these forms or if her computer crashes they may not be accessible. The provider will need to keep a paper copy of the emergency forms in a location that will be easily accessible for her to take when they leave the property and for any substitute to be able to access if needed. Please send a letter of corrections to the Office of Child Care within 30 days of the date of this inspection.

Findings: At the time the provider became a registered provider, two of her children were under 2 years of age, therefore, she was not approved for any children under 2 years of age. The provider thought that it was an automatic change to her registration for her to be able to take children under 2 years of age once her own children turned 2. This of course was incorrect, the provider needs to communicate with the licensing specialist regarding any change she would like to make to her registration. The Office of Child Care must first approve the change and issue a revised registration before any change goes into effect.

Findings: The provider's back yard backs up to a large pond. The provider's back yard is fenced. The provider does have an alarm on the exit doors, however, during the inspection the provider had her front door open, with the storm door closed, so when the provider opened the back door to show this specialist the backyard area, the alarm did not sound. The provider explained that if the front door is open the alarm will not sound. She stated that she only keeps the front door open if they are in the front room, if they go in the back of the house she closes the door. Because there is the body of water behind her home the alarms need to be activated at all times. This either means the front door will need to remain closed so the alarm system will sound if a door is open or the back door will need to have an additional alarm installed that will work independently of the front door. The alarm should always be at a sound level that the provider will hear it when it goes off. Please send a letter of corrections to the licensing specialist within 30 days of the date of this inspection.

Findings: The provider is not currently using a sheet that is designed specifically for the Pack-N-Play. The provider will need to obtain a sheet that is specifically designed for Pack-N-Plays. The sheet must be tightly fitting to prevent any harm to the infant. Please obtain this as soon as possible but no later than 30 days from the date of this inspection. Send a picture of the sheets to the licensing specialist at Deborah.shirley@maryland.gov.
2021-01-29 | Mandatory Review | 13A.15.08.01D(1)(a) | Corrected |
Findings: The provider has 2 year old twins and she indicated that they nap upstairs. She said if she is by herself at home she will wait until the day care children are asleep and bring her twins upstairs to nap. She currently has a monitor that only provides sound. This does not follow the regulation; the provider will either need to obtain a video and sound monitor and take with her when she takes her children upstairs to nap or she will need to have her children nap in the same area with the day care children. Please send a letter of corrections to the specialist within 30 days of this inspection. |
