Welcome to Desert Mesa Elementary School, home of the Bobcats in Yuma, Arizona! We wear our pride with maroon and grey and want you to enjoy our enthusiasm as you browse this site. At Desert Mesa Elementary, we are proud to be a performing plus school for preschoolers, kindergarteners, and students in first through fifth grades. We are even more excited that our school makes improvements every year in the quality of education we offer. Please look at our school's report card to see how we've done.

Initial Comments: The following deficiencies were observed at the time of the Annual Compliance Inspection conducted on 2/5/26, and are subject to changes pending programmatic review. The Compliance Officer provided the facility with a paper copy of the Notice of Inspection Rights at the start of the inspection. A full inspection was conducted at this time. 2 of 2 fingerprint clearance cards were verified to be valid through the DPS website during the time of the inspection. Please complete the Plan of Corrections via the LMS Portal within 10 days of receipt of this Statement of Deficiencies. The Emergency Disaster Contact Form was completed at the time of the inspection. The Empower Survey was emailed to the facility. The DES group size was evaluated at the time of the inspection. The following was discussed but not limited to: -Renewing license via the portal - Anniversary Application (in "Applications" or "Application History") -Renew license before 7/31/26 -Review all staff files for expiring fingerprint cards -New Ruleset

Initial Comments: The following deficiencies were observed at the time of the Compliance Inspection conducted on 2/18/2025 and are subject to changes pending programmatic review. Please submit the Plan of Corrections via the LMS portal within 10 days of receipt of the Statement of Deficiencies. The Empower Self-Evaluation was emailed to the director The fingerprint clearance cards for 3 of 3 staff members were verified to be valid through the DPS website at the time of the inspection. During the exit interview, the following items were discussed but are not limited to: * Ensure teacher caregiver qualifications are maintained on file. *Ensure required documents are signed before the starting date of employment and complete.
