The Mission of Sandy Ridge Elementary School is to provide a positive, interactive and nurturing environment where the teacher’s role is to facilitate learning, empowering the student to be accountable for their own actions. Through active collaboration and partnership with parents, community, and other professionals, we will differentiate instruction to meet the needs of each individual student. Students will be expected to reach their highest potential as they are given the tools and strategies to become a good citizen and lifelong learner.

A valid qualification letter was not on file and available to review at the facility. A provisional qualifying letter was on file for staff member G.C. which had expired on 4/1/24. A permanent qualifying letter was completed with the five (5) year expiration date of 2/2029 on 3/28/2024. The letter was not in G.C.'s on-site file or off-site at the main office, therefore it was not available for review.

A violation was found for which there is no item number. 15A NCAC 18A .2806 FOOD STORAGE AND PROTECTION.(j) The following shall apply to refrigerated storage of food: (1) Refrigeration equipment shall be provided in such number and of such capacity to ensure the maintenance of potentially hazardous food at the required temperatures during storage. Each refrigerator shall be provided with a numerically scaled indicating thermometer that is accurate to ± 3 degrees Fahrenheit and located to measure the air temperature in the warmest part of the refrigerator. Recording thermometers that are accurate to ± 3 degrees Fahrenheit may be used in lieu of indicating thermometers. There was no thermometer in the cold storage that contained milk.

All corrosive agents, pesticides, bleaches, detergents, cleansers, polishes, any product which is under pressure in an aerosol dispenser, and any substance which may be hazardous to a child if ingested, inhaled, or handled were not stored in a locked room or cabinet. The bottles of Sanitizer and Disinfectant, which is labeled 'keep out of reach of children' without any other warnings, was not kept inaccessible to children when it was not in use. The product was kept on a shelf that was not at least 5 feet above minimum vertical distance of the finished floor.
