Reviews
Do not take your child here if they are experiencing stranger awareness - the provider is not not equipped to handle your child in this state. She quit on the first day and was in tears and shaking upon pickup. She told me there was "something wrong with my son" who has historically gotten comments on his jovial demeanor and has reached all of his milestones. She also mentioned that she was unable to take care of the other children due to my son's crying, which is extremely concerning. If my son was in pain, which she claims he may have been, she was unable to soothe him, and I was not contacted to come pick him up.

Provider Response: (Contact the State Licensing Office for more information.) The following Plan has been added and implemented into Little Learners Family Childcare Homes Emergency Plan. Continuity of Operations Plan If Little Learners Family Childcare Home would have to immediately shut down due to circumstances that are out of our control the following steps would be taken. My state licensing representative would be notified of the incident. My Insurance Company would be notified and a claim will be started. Parents will be notified of the incident. At the time of the incident if there is a facility that can be utilized to accommodate the business and the licensing representative inspects it and it passes for the emergency time then we will proceed to be open there. If a facility is not available then the business will reopen as soon as the necessary repairs are made and inspected by my licensing representative. Parents contact information is stored in my cell phone for immediate communications and child files are backed up electronically. All seasonal staff would be notified of the incident. Any payments that may be due to them at that time would be paid. Parents will continue to pay for their positions regardless of whether the business is open or closed as stated in their agreement. This allows all necessary bills to be paid at that time. |

I talked with the parents at pick-up time about the violation in regards to not having documentation of an influenzas vaccination. By doing this the child was given consent to return to daycare in the morning, and the documentation was put into the child's file. |

| 2021-10-06 | Renewal | 3290.24(a)(5) - Emergency plan | Compliant - Finalized |
|
Regulation: 3290.24(a)(5) Description: Emergency plan Noncompliance Area: The facility's emergency plan lacked a plan that provides for accommodations of infants and toddlers. Correction Required: The facility shall have an emergency plan that provides for accommodations of infants and toddlers, children with disabilities, and children with chronic medical conditions. |

Provider Response: (Contact the State Licensing Office for more information.) My immediate plan of correction took place on October 6, 2021 after daycare hours. I updated my Emergency Plans. I added to my letter on Page 2 of my plans the following: To the Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of: ____________________________________________ Child's Name This letter is to assure you of our concern for the safety and welfare of children attending Little Learners Family Child Care Home LLC. Our Emergency Operations Plan provides for response to all types of emergencies. Depending on the circumstance of the emergency, we will use one of the following protective actions: Immediate evacuation: Children are evacuated to a safe area on the grounds of the facility in the event of a fire, etc.¿ Infant & Toddler Plan of Evacuation: the following evacuation procedures are to be followed to accommodate infants and toddlers in an emergency situation. I will proceed gathering the infants and toddlers to the downstairs back sliding glass door, where if a child can not walk yet they will be placed in a pack n play that is on wheels. If a child is capable of walking, then they will be able to help push the pack and play. When exiting the back door there is a portable black suit case (that is on wheels) that is our emergency to go kit that I will grab as we are exiting the house. To the right of the sliding glass door there is a folder with all updated emergency information along with any special medical needs for any children with disabilities or chronicle medical issues that I will also grab. We will then all proceed to exit the house and go to the area designated depending on the emergency situation that is occurring. In-place sheltering: Sudden occurrences, weather or hazardous materials related, may dictate that taking cover inside the building is the best immediate response. Evacuation: Total evacuation of the day care may become necessary if there is a danger in the area. In this case, children will be taken to 1577 Haine School Rd. Cranberry Township. Modified Operation: May include cancellation/postponement of rescheduling of normal activities. These actions are normally taken in case of a winter storm or building problems that make it unsafe for children (such as utility disruptions), but may be necessary in a variety of situations. Special Needs: If a child of any age has any special needs that need to be address in an emergency situation those necessary protocols will be put in to place on an as needed basis as well as children with disabilities or chronicle medical issues. This will be immediately implemented at the time a special need is brought to my attention. This update added my accommodations of infants and toddlers, children with disabilities, and children with chronic medical conditions. Then I added to Page 13 the following : Infant & Toddler Plan of Evacuation: The following evacuation procedures are to be followed to accommodate infants and toddlers in an emergency situation. I will proceed gathering the infants and toddlers to the downstairs back sliding glass door, where if a child cannot walk yet they will be placed in a pack n play that is on wheels. Correction Required: A health report shall include a statement that the child is able to participate in child care and appears to be free from contagious or communicable disease. |

Provider Response: (Contact the State Licensing Office for more information.) I requested from Child #1's parent a health assessment that meets the state of Pennsylvania's criteria. Child #1 just moved back from Colorado to the area and did have a health assessment that did state she was cleared to attend Daycare/Schools & Summer Camps. The assessment lacked appears to be free from contagious or communicable disease. The parent provided me a copy of a new form filled out on 10/29/2020 stating that she is able to participate in childcare and appears to be free from contagious or communicable disease and at the bottom of the form the parent put in writing that Child #1 will not receive the flu shot due to our family beliefs. She signed it and printed her name. Moving forward I will make sure that any child entering child care from another state has the required form from the state of Pennsylvania filled out before attending child care so that this does not happen again. I did send via email on November 3, 2020 at 2:21 P.M. a copy of Child #1's health assessment with the note on the bottom of the form highlighted. I also included in the email all my plans of correction. |
