John Jacobs Elementary School provides an effective elementary education, which prepares young students for middle school. Twenty homeroom teachers are responsible for the delivery of the core academic curriculum. All students receive classes in vocal music, art and physical education. Certified special education teachers meet the special learning needs of students who qualify for special services: gifted education, speech, learning disabled and English Language Learners. Band and orchestra classes are offered to intermediate students.

The Empower Self-Evaluation invitation was emailed to the Provider. The DES Group Size was observed in compliance at the time of the inspection. The fingerprint clearance cards for 3 of 3 staff members were verified to be valid through the DPS website at the time of the inspection. During the exit interview, the following items were discussed, but are not limited to: *Six inches of wood chips will be maintained in the outdoor fall zones *An illness and injury log will be maintained
