LONG POST BUT WORTH THE READ!! I waited a while to leave this review because I wanted to be level headed, fair and factual! My child attended tiny thinkers for the past 3 years. Let me start by saying the owner is extremely unprofessional. I think I saw their true colors in the first year but quite frankly my child made some friendships and that helped me oversee a lot. I am definitely not the most liked parent (and that’s okay) my best interest is in my child and being his voice rather than being a “pick me daycare parent”. In my experience at Tiny Thinkers the kids sit in front of the TV most of the day! I drop off they’re watching TV, I pick up they’re watching TV, Their movement time, watching TV! Since moving into the new building the basement classrooms feel extremely gloomy and prison like, no windows! They use a brightwheel app which only contains a few photos of my child and classmates writing daily on a printed worksheet. Now granted I understand this is no “Goddard” & is only a 2 star keystone facility but one would have to assume they do more than watch tv and color! I never knew if my child ate their food or when they were checked out of the facility. Although they never missed a moment to remind us of their fundraisers! Parents were forced to sell Emily’s homemade dip, chocolate sales, Joe Corbi, give money for their outside equipment or being asked to buy their TTA clothing. My biggest concern was picking up one evening at 5:30pm (on the minute) my key fob did not allow me to get into the building. Their door closer is broken and needs to be fixed but I’m assuming their still isn’t enough fundraiser funds. Finally when someone came to the door my child was downstairs alone with a male employee who the owner had recently disclosed in conversation was on the spectrum and all the “help she could find”. When I brought this situation to their attention the owner never followed up with me. Instead she blocked me on Facebook (as I mentioned superb professionalism) Emily ran into her office and closed the door behind her every time she saw me, struggled to say hello, basically avoided me at all cost. I really truly tried to keep things amicable with her for the sake of my child’s friendships and us having our other children in school together! The owner is friends with the local police official who happens to also be friends with her son. She reached out to him on two different occasions and made (2) unofficial claims that our child was not in a car seat at pick up. We let it go because we needed care at the time and just had to remember this was all retaliation to our concerns we brought up. We continued to keep our child here as they are transitioning into kindergarten soon and for the sake of a life altering change for our child and convenience, and waiting on Pre-K graduation, we decided to “ride it out a little longer”. We still stood involved - went to their open house, tried to show support… because at the end of the day no one really ever wants to have issues with the people who are caring for your children. I really hoped for change because at the end of the day we are all adults! The icing on the cake for us was the owner calling children and youth on us and filing a complaint with the state indicating once again that our child was being picked up without a car seat! For clarification this was never not once brought to our attention! They never even came to us and asked us if we had a car seat or in “caring” about their kiddos asked if we needed one! They flat out filed a complaint! Thankfully this was not a reportable offense but to do that to a parent is completely unforgivable! Children and Youth is who you call for neglect and abuse, not for accusations of what another parent told you or what you didn’t see for yourself! Their behavior was completely disgusting and I warn any parent who encounters this place to run and run fast! The fake smiles in your face and then to do this to a parent is just shameful and evil! Finally we pulled our child with zero regrets other than not doing it sooner!
As a former employee, I would not recommend this place for child care. Coming the inside out, the place is very dirty. They do not have any cleaning experience. Proper cleaning techniques were not used between changing of diapers. My daughter came home smelling of feces that were not her own. A lot of yelling and seems as though they don't bat an eye at stuff that should be looked into. Your child is just money symbol. No educational value. Only interaction your child gets is if they do something wrong. Certain staff do not sit down & actually interact with your children. The TV is basically babysitting your child while certain staff sit on their phones. They do quick projects just so they can document you having an "educational experience ". They don't specify if your child actually eats their entire meal, so you're left clueless. My child was sick during my shift and not one staff member cared if my child was okay, they were more upset that I was leaving them understaffed.
As an educator and parent, I am truly disappointed in TTA, Blandon. The staff is decent as a daycare, but when moving into the needs of pre-K and meeting the needs of all children they are poor at best. There is a one size fits all mentality with an owner that is not only unprofessional when speaking with us, but downright rude. The owner then did not attend our conference and ignored the follow up email we sent addressing our concerns. Would not recommend.
The staff are very friendly. They are always putting the children in their care first. It's a very nice environment for both the children and the staff working their. The staff are a great encouragement to all the children in everything thru their play and learning activities. As a parent of a five year old; I see great potential for this center in big and small ways. The care it provides to the families of children in our community is phenominal and above and beyond in what any parent looking for care would want.
