Direct child care providers, including volunteers, shall receive training in the following within thirty (30) days of starting employment or volunteer work: Universal precautions | 2024-04-02 |
Type of correction needed:
470 IAC 3-1.1-33.5(b)(4) At time of visit within staff files, 8 staff members had expired Universal Precautions Trainings. AG, LB, RR, SF, TF, TK, DH, SB. Please send updated documentation to consultant. |

Provider Response: (Contact the State Licensing Office for more
information.) Recently, we were cited for not completing the universal precautions training. A recent change was made by Child Care Services as to required frequency of CPR training in relation to frequency of Universal Precautions training. Typically, we have both trainings take place simultaneously but because of the recent change we were not required to have CPR training annually, so we delayed training. However, we did not see any information about universal precautions and thus assumed notice referred to both CPR and Universal Precautions training requirements. Consequently, we delayed Universal Precautions training as well. However, we were informed at our state visit that Universal Precautions training is to be done annually, not like CPR semi-annually. We discussed this misunderstanding with our state licensing consultant and he shared that several other child care providers interpreted the communication shared by the state the same way. |
