This Place Still Haunts Me Jun 11, 2023
I have used this provider for more than 6 months

Recently someone asked if I was familiar with this center and I responded “yes- however do not take your child there”. Particularly if they are four and under; as they may not be able to fully express themselves to you if an incident should arise Initially the director Tasha Moore was very warm and inviting. But when one of the “teachers” Helen (older dark skin lady with dreads-hopefully she does not still work there almost two years later)allegedly put her hands on my three year old, in addition to hitting him with his underwear due to him having accidents quite often at the time. My daughter who was six at then witnessed how upset and angry she was acting but couldn’t see what was happening because she was in the bathroom. And this is what I was told when I asked to see the cameras “oh she was in the bathroom at the time of the incident” and therefore not being recorded. This was one of the first things she said when I picked them up that day. It was until later while bathing my son did he explain in great detail what had occurred. Initially when I contacted Tasha about it she expressed concern but it seemed to change once I arrived at the daycare. She attempted to try and whisper with a very low voice as parents were dropping children off. She then gave me an “off the record chat” convincing Me to pull my son out of the daycare. I remember meeting her at the center to collect my son’s things on the last day and I attempted to discuss follow up regarding everything and she got frustrated after I refused to type a statement the way that she had phrased it. She also brought cash in on the day I was pulling him out about $75 or so which she considered a portion of tuition due to the “inconvenience “. My focus was more so on Helen and making sure she did not do this alleged act to another child. Fast forward she stopped answering my emails and calls when requesting follow up. She stated she herself was reporting it to the state and I honestly thought she was blowing smoke and wanted me out of there so she could sweep it under the rug. And I was right. The fact that my son occasionally has dreams about this Helen lady hitting him in his face, bothers me to my core as I feel like I somewhat failed in this instance in not providing protection for him or advocating fully. I should have called the child care services to file a report myself as it was a disservice to other children to just “walk away”. I wish they would have investigated and I did not listen to Tasha as she manipulated me in believing that she was on my side. Ultimately what she cared about is that Helen was able to continue to work there for they were short staffed at the time. I hope and pray to God that she is no longer employed there. I am not affected by many things but this is definitely one that haunts me to the point of having considered therapy for both my son and I.
