Description: The mission of the Greater Burlington YMCA is to build a strong community by involving youth, adults and families in programs and activities that develop spirit, mind, and body. The philosophy of the Y Early Childhood Program is to provide a quality program for children ages 8 weeks to 5 years. We strive to foster social, emotional, physical, cognitive, creative, and healthy development through enriching experiences and positive relationships. The Y Early Childhood Program at GBYMCA maintains a yearlong program. The new year begins at the end of August and runs through the following summer. The center is open Monday through Friday, from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. Families are asked to select an 8 hour time frame of care: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm or 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The Y focuses on a play-based approach known as Emergent Curriculum. Learning experiences and projects are guided by the teacher based on childrens interests, incorporating a multi-sensory and hands-on approach. Children learn by using all senses to explore and develop an increased ability to think, reason, question, and experiment. We place an emphasis on building social competency skills in an environment rich in language development. Our classrooms are set up to provide children with a variety of activity and play centers.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.
