Findings: Discussed with the provider the requirements for a snack. When I asked the provider what the children had for snack, one of the children ran to a drawer in the kitchen and indicated that he had had a Little Debbie snack cake. These types of things should be reserved for just a special occasion. Provider needs to provide two nutritional items for a snack. An example is cheese and crackers or 100% juice and crackers. Provider indicated that the children select from a choice of snacks. This is acceptable as long as the two different food groups is being followed and the choices are nutritious.
