Findings: The provider recently added an in-ground swimming pool. The provider reports she didn't notify the OCC of this change. The provider states that she was waiting for her inspection. Findings: Observed a tall large book shelf on the carpet in the child care space full of books. The shelf isn't steady and could accidently topple over and hurt a child. Findings: Please add a barrier in the foyer area outside of the bathroom. There is nothing to keep the children from accessing the stairs leading upstairs or the off limits family room or the storage room or the utility room. The provider states that the she is always with the children. However, older children should be allowed to use the bathroom independently. Discussed that a barrier could easily be added to allow children access to the bathroom but keep them safely from the other off limit areas. Please immediately add a barrier, and forward written corrective action within 30 days. The provider states that no other Lic. Spec. had mentioned this issue in the last 16 years.

2021-08-09 Mandatory Review 13A.15.07.04A(2) Corrected
Findings: Upon arrival Lic. Spec. observed a young girl sitting outside alone by the sliding glass door. This is the entrance to the child care space. Lic. Spec. asked the child why she was outside and the child said that "Mia put me out here." Lic. Spec. then knocked on the door and the provider answered. Lic. Spec. asked why the child was outdoors alone, and the provider stated that she "was scratching the other children. What do you want me to do?" Having a child go outside alone isn't appropriate discipline and isn't approved or consistent with the family child care regulations. The provider states that she could see the child, but the provider also stated that she was diapering a baby. The provider may not have been able to see the youngster outside if she had her back to the door. The way that the diapering table was stationed, if the provider was using the diapering table she wouldn't have been able to see the child outside. Please forward written corrective action indicating that you understand that this isn't an approved or a safe discipline method, and will not be used again.
