About the Provider

The SBSD believes in a play-based curriculum which includes both child-directed as well as teacher-directed learning. Curriculum is developed by referencing the Vermont Early Learning Standards and its guiding principles. Children are given the opportunity to play in an environment that addresses developmental needs for creativity, problem-solving, movement and positive social interactions. Math, language/literacy/communication, science, social studies, social/emotional development, physical development and creative expression are infused in the development of weekly lesson plans. Students have the opportunity to practice newly acquired skills. In addition, supportive ¿scaffolding¿ by teachers allows children to expand their learning. Differentiated instruction takes place to meet the needs of each individual learner. Our program¿s goal is for children to develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with others and to become independent, confident, lifelong learners.
