About the Provider

Description: Centennial School is a community school in Higley Unified School District serving neighborhood kindergarten through sixth grade students. Our learning environment provides each and every child the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe environment and develop a life-long quest for learning and knowledge.

In addition to our outstanding staff and students throughout the grade levels, we also are home to the District's Self-Contained Gifted Program for grades third through sixth grade and our District Case and Able programs grades kindergarten through sixth grade.

Our state-of-the-art school opened in August 2009 to almost seven hundred students. This year 2013 we will be opening our doors to over 800 plus students.

Findings: During the inspection both Staff #1 and Staff #2 were present with 33 enrolled school-aged children in the main classroom. But, each time the doorbell rang, Staff #2 left the classroom to go open the door, leaving Staff #1 alone with the 33 children; 13 over the required staff to child ratio for the school-age age group. This was observed to happen at least 5 times during the inspection.
