Findings: Upon arrival, specialist observed a child under the age of 1 sleeping in a porta crib in the first of two connecting rooms in the child care area. Provider was serving lunch to the other children in care in the second of the two connecting rooms. As per regulations, a resting or napping child younger than the age of 2 shall remain within sight AND sound of the provider or substitute at all times. The concern of the two connecting rooms has been discussed with provider at past inspections. The rooms with the passageway do not allow observation and supervision of children in both rooms at the same time. Provider will use only one room at a time for all children (ages birth-preschool) in care and monitor on an ongoing basis to ensure safety and compliance. As per COMAR 13A.15.08.01E, provider may use a video AND sound monitoring system if she chooses to have a child under the age of 2 resting or napping in the adjoining room. Provider will submit a written statement of correction to office within 5 working days addressing how she will meet the regulatory requirements of supervision.

Findings: Specialist observed weights and a framed mirror propped against a wall in the main child care deck area. Provider will remove immediately and will monitor on an ongoing basis to ensure safety and compliance. Specialist also observed a broken floor slat on the child care area deck and a broken board in the fence which both must be repaired. Provider will observe all areas of the child care outdoor play space, both deck area and swing set and swing set area, to ensure that all areas are in good repair and monitor on an ongoing basis to ensure safety and compliance. Specialist also observed several sticks in the child care area and the area overall needs to be cleaned and organized. Provider will correct immediately and submit photos of outdoor child care area for correction within 5 working days.

Provider stated that she had washed the children's hands prior to specialist arriving but when specialist arrived she did not give snack right away. Provider will review regulations in relation to cleanliness and sanitation to ensure compliance at all times.
