Description: Established in 2007 and created by a mother/daughter team, the preschool is set apart from others in the area. We believe in play-based, project learning. Rather than having a letter of the week, children are encouraged to explore many different academic areas through hands on experiences. Children have daily work time to choose "work" they would like to do in the classroom. This work could be a sensory experience with numbers or letters, a practical experience with a puzzle, the act of role play with a friend, or the practice of writing. Our inspiration comes from many areas. We love the philosophies of gentle or attachment parenting, Maria Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Alfie Kohn, and Piaget. Lead teacher, Ms. Kellista has three years of experience teaching in the Olathe school district. She is a current, licensed Kansas teacher and is working toward her Master's in Early Chilhood Education. She holds over 80 college credit hours in child development and countless hours of inservice. She has two children of her own and quality, play-based learning is her passion. Assistant teacher Ms. Cindy has over 30 year of childcare and teaching experience. She has over 12 credit hours in early childhood education and many inservice hours as well. Teaching children drama and music is her passion.
