Staff persons and volunteers shall receive training in maintenance of smoke detectors, the duties of facility persons during a fire drill and during a fire and the use of the facility's fire extinguishers, not including discharge of the fire suppressant agent.

Noncompliance Area: At the time of the inspection the following CPSL violations were observed in the staff records: staff person #1 was lacking proof of a current mandated reporter training, staff person #3 was lacking the FBI clearance for childcare service.

Correction Required: The operator shall comply with the CPSL and with Chapter 3490 (relating to protective services). A facility person's record shall include a copy of requests for the criminal history record and child abuse registry clearance information, a copy of the disclosure statement and a copy of the completed clearance information required under the CPSL.

Description: Space safe for large muscle activity/Unsafe Areas in Outdoor Space

Noncompliance Area: At the time of the inspection the metal stairs in the rear of the building had sections of corrosion and rust. The fence in the rear yard has a broken fence with sharp metal protrusions. The top of the fence has wires that are unwoven and frayed, leaving sharp exposed points.

Correction Required: Outdoor or indoor play space shall be safe for large muscle activity. If unsafe areas or conditions are in or near an outdoor play space, fencing or natural barriers are required to restrict children from those unsafe areas or conditions.

Correction Required: Staff persons shall complete professional development within 90 days of hire as listed in subsections (f)1-10. The operator shall comply with the CPSL and with Chapter 3490 (relating to protective services). A provisional employee may not be permitted to work alone with children and must work within the vicinity of a permanent employee.
