About the Provider

Description:

At Mona's Country Day School we offer a variety of developmentally appropriate activities for children to learn. We believe that each child is a unique person with an individual pattern and timing of social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. We want to be an extension of the home in making your child feel comfortable in their learning environment. We believe that if your child is comfortable in their surroundings, it makes it easier to leave them in our care each day. We will do all we can to make learning a fun and positive experience for your child. We offer a theme based curriculum with a hands on approach to learning. This is encouraged through the daily activities of circle time, arts and crafts and dramatic play. This style of early childhood education is designed to foster creativity and expand self-expression.

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

Our daughters attended Mona's from June 2019 to February 2022. We initially loved it there. One daughter attended from age 1 to nearly age 4 and the other just five months. Before Covid, it was an ideal care center. Personable, transparent, and welcoming. Post Covid, our experience changed dramatically. Of course protocols put in place were commonplace, but unfortunately Covid overshadowed compassion and loyalty.

Our then two month old commonly had mild symptoms during this time. As all parents know, if in daycare, infant's are often sick with symptoms such as a runny nose or a mild cough. However, the owner was very critical of the health of our child. I was constantly called out of work to pick her up over the most minor symptoms. Countless pediatrician appointments and notes detailing that she was not seriously ill or contagious were written to calm the nerves of the staff. It didn't matter. Soon our frustration with having to keep our daughter home due to every sniffle began to wane on our relationship with the owner, who sadly also started to medically diagnose our baby. "Chronic cough" and "allergic to her formula" and "getting my staff sick" were comments I heard daily. There was nothing my state renowned pediatrician could say that mattered. Finally, after multiple instances she decided that we were "at an impasse" and needed to find care elsewhere. No warning. We were suddenly dismissed via email and left without childcare for both of our daughters, one of which was three years old who knew no other caregivers all her life. No goodbye to her friends or teachers. Zero regard for her feelings and our infant being blamed. We were devastated and hurt.

So take care here cautiously and hope your children never get sick because at this facility "children with symptoms should never be at school." Good luck.
