Plan: Ms. Robinson states she and her staff will complete more training regarding ratios She will take her entire group with her to the bathroom to brush teeth or use the sink in the infant room to brush teeth, and she will speak to her staff about communicating with her when they are changing diapers etc. Discussed the staff to child ratio chart again.
Correction Date: 2019-04-25
Description: 340:110-3-286(a) - Ratios. The West side of the building is separated by equipment into three sections or rooms. When Licensing was let into the building, the front room had 6 children including 2 infants. Asked the staff where she had been when I arrived, she stated she was in the restroom helping two children brush their teeth. The middle room and back room which is the infant room then had 9 children and 1 staff who was changing diapers. Two of these children were the two that had been brushing their teeth.

Discussed the definition of supervision and being near enough to intervene etc. Jo states she understands she must be present with children, able to see them, and close enough to intervene if needed. She states she will communicate this with her staff as well.

The program is required to maintain supervision at all times.

Licensing observed a child standing at the glass door in the room on the East side of the building when I pulled into a parking spot. Upon entering the building, there were no children or staff in that room. Caregiver stated she was helping two children brush their teeth in the restroom. Upon ringing the door bell, licensing worker waited between the front door and the double glass doors for approximately 5 minutes for a staff to come to the door, in that time two toddlers came into the front lobby area and interacted with worker on the other side of the door, spilling milk in the floor from a sippy cup and running back and forth between the classroom and the front lobby with no adult supervising them.
