My 2-year-old daughter has been full-time at Mid Rivers Daycare since 4 months old. She was enrolled part-time at 3 months to help me transition to work. Why I keep my her here:
(1) Open 6am-6:30pm. My long drive to work and need to run errands means my daughter stays here 8am-6pm (10 hours is the max she's allowed) almost every day.
(2) Only closed for holidays. No strange days off that other centers create.
(3) Teachers have been working here for years. My daughter has loved every teacher here, and she sees all of them throughout the day.
(4) Ages mingle in morning and evening play. My daughter loves to play with the "big kids" when the day comes to an end.
(5) Indoor and outdoor playgrounds. When the sun is out, her class plays outside with tricycles, sand, water, and more.
(6) Multi-room layout makes areas for reading, resting, eating, playing music, watching educational shows, and playing with blocks or puzzles.
(7) Daycare potty-trained my daughter! She requested to wear "big girl panties" and to use the potty after watching other kids.
(8) Parents are welcome to observe and play with the kids (and see how the classes are run).

About the Provider

Mid Rivers Day Care was founded in 1986 as a Missouri not-for-profit corporation to provide for the physical needs of Children's Edu-Care. Children's Edu-Care is a philosophy and method developed by Patricia Parr and George Stiefvater to address the needs of two career families. Fundamental to this philosophy is the position taken by all staff..... that they are the extended family of the client served. Children's Edu-Care believes that learning opportunities for young children must be appropriate to the age and stage of the child, along with the child's expressed interest. Especially in early childhood, a play oriented approach that is child initiated, child directed and teacher supported. Children's Edu-Care supports the fact that true learning takes place when the child learns at his or her own rate, when given the opportunity to explore an exciting environment created exclusively for instruction, self discovery and recreation.
