About the Provider
Early Childhood Development Philosophy - We believe children learn through personal exploration and group cooperation. We provide a safe and friendly place for infants, toddlers, and pre-school aged children to grow in physical, emotional, social, and cognitive abilities that help them develop as individuals and group members.
Curriculum-based L earning - Children are encouraged to recreate, explore, and have fun in a guided, supervised setting that is supported by national-level and age-appropriate curriculum. Your child will use materials, activities, sight, hearing and other senses to develop as an individual and as a group member.
Learning Strategies – The Charleston Child Care and Learning Center uses a team approach to set age appropriate development and learning goals that meet needs of parent and child. The team will be guided by the classroom’s Lead Teacher, Teachers, with input and supervision from program directors. Parents communicate their goals for their child’s learning experiences with the Lead Teacher on a regular basis.
Teaching staff plan to meet the needs of all children using nationally recognized curriculum tools in each classroom that are appropriate for each developmental level. They may plan activities and routines (such as meals and nap times) for the entire group of children. A teacher may also plan time for individualized play and exploration within the group setting.
Children will be involved in physical motion and activities each day, both indoors and outdoors when weather permits.
Nutrition Plan - Our program participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program. A sample nutrition plan for your child is included in your orientation packet. Menus are published for parents to review. Food items from home is restricted to formula and expressed milk for infants. No other food items can be brought into the center. Parent must submit written physician orders to the center at least twice yearly listing food allergies for their child to receive substitute food items.
