Description: Balls Creek Elementary serves students in grades Kindergarten through grade six. Our students feed to both Mill Creek Middle school and Bandys High School.

We are dedicated to the process of student learning. Student learning is our school's chief priority and determines the direction of all decisions made involving the students at Balls Creek Elementary.

We realize that students learn in different ways and we are dedicated to providing a variety of instructional approaches to support their learning and ensure their success.

Medications including prescription and non-prescription items were not stored in a locked cabinet or other locked container. Designated emergency medications shall be stored out of reach of children, but are not required to be in locked storage. In space #131, on a shelf beside the entrance to the classroom, in a lunch bag, was an emergency medication. All emergency medications must be kept out of the reach of children at least five vertical feet from the floor. The teacher stated the child carries the medication with her wherever she goes and must have access to it. I explained that in licensed programs children are not allowed to have access to the medications. All emergency medications must be either carried in a book bag, or fanny pack by a staff member or placed on a shelf or other place above five vertical feet from the floor.

Daily records of arrival and departure times for children enrolled at the center were not maintained as children arrive and depart and/or were not made available for review. In space #131, for school age children, I observed that none of the children were signed into the facility indicating their time of arrival. The teacher obtained a sign in/out roster and signed the children in today. She stated she will continue signing the children in and out in the future.

All corrosive agents, pesticides, bleaches, detergents, cleansers, polishes, any product which is under pressure in an aerosol dispenser, and any substance which may be hazardous to a child if ingested, inhaled, or handled were not stored in a locked room or cabinet. In space #415, I observed a container of liquid hand sanitizer sitting beside the handwashing sink. Hand sanitizing products must be kept out of the reach of children, when not in use, at least five vertical feet from the floor. The staff placed the hand sanitizer in a cabinet inaccessible to the children during my visit. In a bathroom adjacent to space #415, in an unlocked cabinet, I observed an aerosol can of Glade Air Freshener. All products in an aerosol can must be kept in locked storage. The staff placed the aerosol can in a locked cabinet during my visit. In space #131, I observed a bottle of Windex Window Cleaner on a counter. All cleaning products labeled “Keep Out of the Reach of Children” that also contain additional warnings must be kept in locked storage. The staff placed the window cleaner in a locked closet today.
