Deltona Christian School

Deltona Christian School began as a vision of Pastor and Mrs. Donald Herchenroder. After seeing the need for a school where students could receive a quality education in a Christian atmosphere, they began praying about it. It was brought before the deacons and the church and with the Lord’s leadership, the church voted on July 14, 1974 to begin the school.

Classes began September 3, 1974 with 19 students in the kindergarten through fourth grades. Fifth grade was added after Christmas break.

Upon Pastor Donald Herchenroder’s retirement in 1997, the church elected the assistant pastor, Byron Herchenroder, as pastor. Under his leadership the school has continued to grow.

Deltona Christian School alumni now circle the globe as pastors, musicians, teachers, missionaries, doctors, attorneys, military personnel, and various other professions.

* To help children become aware of there need for a Savior. To help them understand that there is only one way they can have forgiveness of sins, and that is placing total dependance on Christ's finished work on the cross. To help these children become more Christ-like. To provide a quality education in a Christian environment. To encourage our students to strive for excellence in all areas of their lives. For our students to grow spiritually, socially, and academically.
