My daughter came to this place with her laptop and headphones for remote learning. She is preparing for a kidney transplant and has completed remote learning since attending. She was logged on with her teacher whom has set up instruction to support her while she is online. However, staff turned her computer off and had her sit and watch movies all day. I’m not sure why, considering the supposed coordinator called me and asked if she needed support. I clearly stated she can sit at a desk on her computer so she can learn(she was logged in on the bus and prior to getting on the school bus). This was verbally agreed upon. However, my daughter watched movies all day people turned her computer off. If you expect your kid to learn expect a fight. If your kid talks expect a fight, if your kid is cognitive expect a fight. Their expectations appears to be if you have a disability you can't learn only color, play in gym and watch movies. There is no PreK my son is about to turn 4 years old and I have never seen any letters, numbers or colors. Their idea of education is doing what they say do which is nothing. You will have a 4 year old who can color.

About the Provider
The Foundation operates Frankie’s World, a Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Center or PPECC, licensed by the State of Pennsylvania. It opened on July 19, 2006, and is centrally located in Northern Liberties to be accessible to children from all parts of Philadelphia. When my daughter Frankie was a toddler on a ventilator in 2000, she was isolated at home with a nurse, and there was no medically-safe place for her to go to make friends and learn about the world. We made Frankie’s World into the kind of place she would have loved.
Our state-of-the-art facility is staffed by experienced pediatric nurses and special needs educators. The interior is a large open playroom, equipped with toys, books, games, computers, adapted seating, therapy equipment, tricycles, indoor swing set, and much more – every item carefully selected to maximize a child's opportunity for physical, physiological, and intellectual growth and development. Nursing services include tracheotomy/ventilator care, g-tube feedings, medication administration, and seizure monitoring. There is no cost to parents – we will work with your child's doctor and insurance company.
Frankie's World is a safe and loving environment where children can play, learn and thrive while their parents are away at work or school. The Foundation's Staff and Board of Directors are dedicated to making Frankie's World a welcome solution for Philadelphia familes.

The prohibition against restraining a child does not apply to the use of adaptive equipment prescribed for a child with special needs. |
|||
|
Provider Response: (Contact the State Licensing Office for more information.) We at Frankie's World don't believe, and still don't believe that we were "restraining" a child for the one incident in question. In fact, restraining children is abhorrent to us at FWF. During the incident in question the child was in a highchair receiving a gastric tube feeding and became dangerous in the highchair trying to knock it over. The highchair was then replaced with a small wooden chair closer to the ground level and is equipped with one safety belt that goes around child's waist - which used at the time as the nurse with the child deemed it necessary to make certain the child did not fall from the chair or fling himself to the floor. The plan of correction moving forward would be to notify parent that children who are prescribed medical feeds from a medical doctor must be able to receive the feed and tolerate the feed on their own. If the child is unable to receive the ordered feed unassisted then a medical order for adaptive equipment must be in place. |
