Murray and Miriam actually allowed child abuse. I was last picked up in the red van and last dropped off. We had to enter the van based on how we were dropped off. That put me in the back. Peggy was the driver and some large black man was the monitor. He abused me everyday at the age 3. I finally started knocking my milk over at 10am snack time so Miriam would call my mom to pick me up. How they even hired this man to be with little kids is sickening.

About the Provider

Welcome to Pickwick School. Pickwick School is the oldest and most respected nursery school in Queens and provides care for children from 6 months to 5 years old . It was founded in 1941 by Murray and Miriam Singer, and is nestled in a very quiet neighborhood in Briarwood, Queens. Pickwick School is currently owned by Chiarina and Patrick Nolan. Chiarina has been a part of Pickwick School for the past 27 years, both as an educator and owner. Our goal is, and always has been, to provide children with a safe and nurturing environment that gives each child the opportunity to grow socially, emotionally and intellectually. We believe that children become active thinkers and creative explorers when given an opportunity to learn by doing. Our classrooms are designed to include different learning centers filled with hands-on activities and materials for the children to explore throughout the day.

Pickwick School also offers Universal Pre-Kindergarten, which is sponsored by the NYC Board of Education and provides children with a free 2 and 1/2 hour program that prepares children for Kindergarten and beyond.

Common questions

The answers people ask us for most often.

How do I contact a provider I found here?

In most cases the provider’s direct number is included in their listing. When it is not, we list the number of the Child Care Licensing Program — you may call that number for more information, or search for the provider online.

Will ChildcareCenter pass a message on to a provider for me?

No. ChildcareCenter only provides information, so enrolment questions, tuition questions and job enquiries need to go to the provider directly using the contact details on their listing. We cannot forward them and we cannot share contact details a provider has not published.

I run a daycare — how do I correct or remove my listing?

Use suggest an update on your listing to correct any detail, or claim the listing to manage it yourself. If you have closed or no longer provide care, contact us and we will update the listing to show that.
