I’ve worked in the childcare field and I am a mom; this is my experience with Joyful Praise “Christian Academy”....The director Shawanda and Isha have no personable skills being a director. Shawanda lacks professionalism and is not clear regarding their policies. Other staff seems to be fine but I recommend its pointless feeling at ease dealing with her. You are better off taking your child to a facility that respects your requests as a parent. The owner shouldn't have this person representing their business even after her eight years of services!! She is not attentive to your child while other staff are on break. Every time I’ve seen her she is not engaging in classroom activities she is busy on her phone while giving you a nasty look and attitude at the door. She talks to the children in a mean tone if she does engage; and looks like she feels bothered if the children come close to her if she is interrupted from her phone entertainment. If you ask her a question she is rude and condescending and if you ask again another day she will give you a different answer… never consistent with her responses….when I noticed it I purposely would start to ask questions again just to see what her response would be. It’s almost like she enjoys her power trip because she will not have any accountability for her mistakes. If you are looking for professionalism, ease, comfort and a director that cares about your child and the business Beware.....This facility is not for you!!!!
Mrs.chawanda is extremely rude she didn't tell her staff of my daughter allergies so they was giving the things that my daughter was allergic to she was not professional at all when it came down to talk to her she stated that I'm ridiculous and I complain to much and she mean mugged me and my child as I was walking out the door she also stated that I was not worth talking to at all
A child of age 3 years was molest hurt by another classmate in the restroom of joyful praise academy. The child abused did inform the teacher ms.stefanie and no action was taken. The child abused was taken to the hospital and a police report was made. The ones in charge of the daycare ms.chiowanda and ms.iesha were informed of what happened and took no responsibility and took it as a laughing matter. Ms.chiowanda and ms.iesha did not inform the parents of the child that abused the other child because they do not want the public to know of what happened at their daycare. Joyful praise academy is being under investigation. I advise yall to not enroll your kids to this awful daycare, kids are not safe here.
The Teachers and Support Staff were great with my two children, unfortunately, the billing personnel, Ms.Chawanda, has some not so nice billing practices. She told me on a Friday evening I had to pay $500 in back payments or else don't bring my children the following Monday. When I asked her to provide supporting documentation, she informed myself and my fiancee she didn't have to. She graciously took it upon herself to have the Sheriff's office come to my job and upgraded the $500 to over $1,000. I haven't yet received any supporting documents. Unprofessional and please proceed with caution!
When I first registered i was very unsure if the center would be a good fit for my two children. At that time center was new and this would make the third daycare that my family had tried in the last year. Now that my children have been there over 1.5yrs I could not be happier with the daycare. Sure there's things that I can do without but overall its a good program. The kids have meals, dance, karate, and chapel included in my one weekly fee. I have referred half of my co-workers lol!!!
