Description: Sunny Hill Preschool was founded as a non-profit organization in 1958 by the Sudbury United Methodist Church, and we celebrated our fiftieth anniversary in 2008. While the school is sponsored by the church, religion is not a part of the curriculum. The school offers a play-based program that combines preparation for kindergarten with an emphasis on a child’s social and emotional development. The focus of the programs at Sunny Hill Preschool is on the whole child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. Teachers develop classroom themes and activities that integrate sensory experiences, pre-reading and pre-math concepts, science, social studies, art, social and self-help skills.
The mission of the school is to provide a high quality, affordable, nurturing and supportive early childhood learning environment to families in Sudbury and the surrounding communities.
As one of the very first programs in the Sudbury area, Sunny Hill Preschool serves as a model of excellence in early childhood education. The daily operations of the school are overseen by a full-time Director. An appointed committee of church members is responsible for policy making and various functions related to the operation of the school.
Our programs are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, which sets professional standards for early education programs.
