The B. Douglas Gordon & Elizabeth Houskeeper Gordon Little Sprouts Early Learning Center is an expansive new childcare and preschool facility which offers space for 83 children, ages 6 weeks to 6 years, in fully-staffed, state-of-the-art surroundings. The Center is conveniently located in Newton, New Jersey and is easily accessible from towns throughout Sussex and Warren Counties.

Additional Information:

Separate classrooms are available for each age group, from infancy through pre-school. Fully qualified teachers are present in each classroom and the child-teacher ratio adheres to or exceeds standards set by the state of New Jersey.

In addition to the sparkling new classrooms, there is an all-purpose room for active indoor play and parent presentations, as well as a sick room for children who may fall ill during the day.

Two outdoor playgrounds are available with age-appropriate equipment for our little sprouts.

2023-03-13 144393 3A:52-6.4(b)(1)(ii) The center shall provide sleeping equipment for children 12 months of age and younger, the center shall provide for each child a crib, that complies with the Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC) Federal Safety Standards for Full- Size and Non-Full-Size Baby Cribs; 16 CFR 1219 and 1220, which is incorporated herein by reference, and can be obtained through the CPSC's website at https://www.cpsc.gov/Safety-Education/Safety- Education-Centers/cribs , playpen, or other Office of Licensing-approved sleeping equipment that meets the following requirement that sleeping equipment shall be free of pillows and soft bedding, including, but not limited to bumper pads, when occupied by a sleeping child.
2023-03-13 144393 3A:52-5.6(a) At least five foot-candles of natural or artificial light shall be provided in all rooms used by children during naptime. The illumination shall be measured three feet above the floor at the farthest point from the light source.
2023-03-13 144393 3A:52-7.6(a)(2) The center shall take immediate necessary action to protect the child from further harm and shall immediately notify the child's parent(s) when a child sustains a head or facial injury, including when a child bumps his or her head.
2023-03-13 144393 3A:52-6.4(a)(4)(iii) For early childhood programs, the center shall provide opportunities for daily rest and sleep as follows: for children over the age of 18 months and under the age of four years, the center shall provide an alternative quiet activity for each child who has rested or slept for 30 minutes and does not appear to need additional rest or sleep.
2023-03-13 144393 3A:52-3.4(a) The sponsor or sponsor representative shall secure comprehensive general liability insurance coverage for the center and shall maintain on file a copy of the insurance policy or documentation of current insurance coverage.
