The Montessori Academy of Temple Terrace was opened in 1970 and includes classrooms for children ages 12 months 5 years old. It employs an internationally trained staff with Montessori Certified teachers in each fully equipped classroom. The curriculum includes exercises and materials in Language, Mathematics, Practical Life, Sensorial, Science, Geography, Social Studies, History and much more. Foreign Language classes in Spanish and Chinese help our students learn an appreciation for different cultures and dialects. Hands-on equipment in all of the above subject areas allows for "sensorial" learning is how the child "absorbs" knowledge. Practical Life exercises are also important at this age as they serve as an aid to the growth and development of the child's intellect and concentration and helps the child develop an orderly way of thinking. The school also features the "Early Reading Program" in which children as young as three years old can enjoy the experience of individual reading. This reading program has been used in all of our schools since 1970 and has proven to be a powerful and successful tool in helping young children to read with ease and confidence. Early learning is the focus which can put each child one step ahead of the rest.
