Mistwood Montessori School

Mistwood Montessori School offers a traditional Montessori primary program, based on a three year cycle, for children ages approximately 3-6. This three year cycle includes the Kindergarten year. We enroll children based on their developmental readiness, rather than age. However, we have found that children are usually between the ages of 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 years when they are potty trained and developmentally ready for our classroom environment. Occasionally we will enroll a 4 year old, if openings are available. We do not accept students for the Kindergarten year without prior Montessori experience. The teachers at Mistwood Montessori can help you to determine if your child is ready for our classroom.

Our program proudly supplements the experience of all of our students with weekly music and second language programs, with curriculum tailored to the age group. In addition, our Kindergarten program offers a weekly science workshop and a yearly holiday music performance. Kindergarten students participate in a weekly drawing and art class, where they can refine their fine motor skills while being exposed to design concepts such as lines, shading, and negative space.

We invite you to visit our school. Please call for an appointment. We recommend that your first visit be without your child, so that you can give your undivided attention to observing the classrooms and talking with the director. We then encourage you to return for a visit with your child.
