About the Provider

For generations, the YMCA has been known for its commitment to family life. YMCA programs and services have grown and adapted to the changing needs of families. Today, more and more parents are looking for quality, yet affordable childcare they can depend on. Whether your child is attending our infant/toddler program, preschool or our school age child care program, our goal is to provide a safe, fun environment. Like all Y programs, childcare is open to all.

With so many demands on today’s families, parents need all the support they can get. That’s why child care at the Y is about more than looking after kids. It’s about nurturing their development by providing a safe place for them to learn the foundational skills of Early Childhood Education, develop healthy, trusting relationships, and build self-reliance through the Y values. We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for quality of life. The Preschool program is focused from the very beginning on Kindergarten readiness. We begin our Early Preschool program with our 2 ½ year olds. Our year-round curriculum includes thematic units that move the children through a progression of learning that can be adapted to meet the individual needs of the children at each level. Our facility allows us to provide the children breakfast, a full hot lunch and an afternoon snack as well as weekly swimming lessons and weekly gymnastics classes. We strive to educate the parent about the importance of their role in their child’s education from the very beginning. We keep parents informed through newsletters, scheduled and impromptu conferences, formal assessments and an open door policy that allows parents full view of what their child is involved in daily. We also encourage the parents to participate in family events throughout the year and to utilize our facility. A strong family relationship is vital to the ongoing education of our children, and we know that strong kids and strong families build strong communities.

We emphasize the four core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. We teach this to the children through day to day experiences, activities, and lessons. We give the children the opportunity to use verbal communication to solve problems. Our staff serves as positive role models and provides care that is supportive, nurturing, warm and responsive to each child's needs. Our open door policy allows parents the freedom of knowing what their children are doing at all times during the day.
