GAP Community Child Development Center was established in 1982 and is a non-profit (tax-exempt Center that is licensed by the District of Columbia). GAP is nationally accredited by NAEYC and has held accreditation since 2009.

Our center provides a multicultural educational and developmental program for children ages six (6) weeks through five (5) years. GAP Community Child Development Center is part of the Office of the State Superintendent of Education's (OSSE) Pre-K Enhancement and Expansion Program (PKEEP), making it one of only 30 OSSE PKEEP centers in the District under this high-quality designation! GAP also follows the District of Columbia Early Learning Standards (DC ELS).  At GAP, we seek to motivate, stimulate and challenge our children in a safe environment, ensuring that learning is fun, exploring is exciting, and developing new concepts is an adventure!

GAP follows the Creative Curriculum Teaching Strategies and the D.C. Common Core curriculum, which informs our administration and teaching staff to provide a learning environment that embraces the “whole child." This curriculum facilitates positive cognitive, emotional, and physical growth. Administrators and teachers at GAP consistently strive for excellence and remain up to date on relevant training and education to ensure best practices in early childhood education are implemented and adhered to. GAP embraces our community and the families we serve; we understand a successful early education program requires strong partnerships. We celebrate the multi-cultural and multi-ethnic children and families that enrich the mosaic of the GAP family. This diversity creates a mosaic that reflects intelligence, inclusion, dignity, respect, and awareness of self and others.
