About the Provider
My name is Shelly Gattis, owner of ABC Kids Daycare. I have a family of six: myself, my husband Greg, and our four children. Corbin is fifteen years old, Belle is twelve, Alexa is ten, and Zuri is five. I attended Northwest Missouri State University, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Sociology. After graduation I came to Kansas and worked for Kansas Social and Rehabilitation Services for almost six years in case management, resigning from my position in June 2005 to stay home with my children. I have been providing child care in my home since receiving my license in November 2005. Our children have all been cared for in a Home Daycare setting. I was able to take my daughter, Alexa, to work with me for the first four months after her birth. After that she was in a home daycare for a month with my other two children. By that time we realized our family would benefit if I stayed home with my children, giving them more of myself and sharing their world. In August 2005 I started thinking seriously about becoming a licensed child care provider and began taking classes. Each year since becoming licensed I have exceeded the number of training hours required. Among other classes, I have taken Infant and Toddler CPR, First Aid, Infant and Toddler Sign Language, and Asthma Management and Environmental Control. I am always looking for new classes to help improve my knowledge of child development and to make every day a new, exciting adventure for my "ABC Kids."
