**Warning about my grandson’s experience Holistic Life School (South Plaza Trail Va Beach)**

My grandson very much enjoyed going to the daycare but because he experienced 3 instances in approx 6 months, his parents pulled him out. A child threw a block at him hitting him in the face. Maybe a stretch on this one regarding supervision. The same child grabbed his private parts during nap time and no one saw it? The offending child is still enrolled at the school. My son and his ex wife were told that the cameras didn’t have footage retained because it was too far back when they were notified (over a week). The incident occurred in Oct 2023 before Halloween and the school didn’t report it until Jan 2024 (listed on the Social Services website relating to the daycare). Curious to say the least. They talk about all theses cameras but why don’t they allow parents the opportunity to view cameras “live” like some of their competitors? This private parts grabbing incident was “validated” as a credible report by Ms. Sampson (Va Beach Social Services inspector) and an investigator from CPS. It is listed on the Social Service page for the daycare as 10 Jan 2024. The last straw was earlier this month when another child grabbed a piece of pvc pipe that was laying around and hit my grandson just below the left eye.

Here’s some info for all military and other potential customers of this day care business:

Since 2000, Social Services has conducted 17 (soon to be 18) inspections of this licensed “day care”. They ARE NOT not licensed as a school but as a daycare. Although only 3 (4 is being investigated) of 17 were initiated because of complaints made, all 3 were “validated” by inspectors. Eleven of the 17 inspections (almost 66%) in 4 years have found violations ranging from choke hazards laying around, harmful chemicals left out, multiple instances of not waiting for sexual offender screening to be initiated or concluded before hiring staff and several violations for improper supervision of the children. The “lackadaisical” approach to parents concerns and in general by the staff number 1 and particularly the uninformed owner is appalling.

You don’t have to believe the pissed off father, mother or myself (an irate grandpa) for that matter. Go to the Social Services site and view the last 4 years of reports for yourself. Or ask me and I’ll provide a screen shot for you. I have been talking to the State Inspector for Va Beach, Ms Kim Sampson (757 354-7307) related to all the violations. She and CPS are investigating the recent claim for the incident involving my grandson earlier this month.

I do warn any military families to do your due diligence before allowing your child to stay with anyone, let alone a place like this that gets Va State subsidizes for each child enrolled. Their “daycare” license is up for renewal in July 2024.

Anyone who can provide me with numbers to contact on the local bases so I can provide them the info and possibly get this place on the “do not conduct business with” list, I would appreciate it.
