If you hire a specialist, you are to compensate and treat them as such. I provided an engaging, age-appropriate, educational music program that was well-received by the students here. Was in contact with Ms. Thompson the night before my regularly scheduled class and she confirmed I would be teaching the following morning. After my hour-long commute, I arrived to an empty facility. Fast forward to Thursday, 24 hours later...
To receive a 6:30am misspelled text with poor grammar that this was "the end of our professional relationship" is wildly inappropriate and indicative of the type of work they're doing there. I sincerely hope they treat whomever else they hire there with more respect than I was given. I worked around my full-time schedule to make time for their students and was robbed not only of the courtesy to know my class was canceled, but the decency of a phone call to let me know I was being let go. Now I am battling them over compensation, as they are withholding payment for services rendered.
My daughter was happy to go to school each day. She recognized that learning was happening and hated misssing a day even when she was sick. The lessons were engaging and the teachers nurturing. They did not allow the children's ages to determine what they could learn but stretched them to their potential. Learning was hands on and not always in the classroom.
