This is a very clean facility! The staff pays attention to detail. Education and care are clearly at the forefront here. I'm happy to have found such an amazing place.

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

????????????PLEASE SHARE SHARE SHARE!!!!????????????
This is at Yolandas PLAYHAUS in Vandalia oh on Kenbrook dr. One of the bathroom sinks is literally detached from the wall and drywall, they have it held up on wooden sticks that can easily be knocked down, causing the sink to hang. It’s been like this for at least 6 months. Owner says it’s no big deal since it can’t fall completely off the wall due to plumbing being attached to it. This sink has fallen while my child has used it at least 4-5 times with me being with her. They use stools to put up to the sink so when the kids are moving the stool, it knocks into the wooden sticks and the sink falls down which can easily hit them in the head as they’re bending down.
I asked if they could possibly have her use the other restroom due to the safety hazard or at least be in there with her while she’s using it. This was”request #1.

They leave babies sleeping in swings/bouncer seats etc, which is dangerous as they can die from SIDS or positional asphyxia(unable to breathe properly and can die). I asked if they could transfer My infant from the swings and bouncers to her crib once she falls asleep.(Request #2)

I even told her how I wasn’t aware of the seriousness of it. (Hoping she wouldn’t get offended ????). So she says , “Oh no, they’re not supposed to let them sleep in those. When did this happen?” I told her at different times at pick up at least 10-15 times My infant is sleeping in one of them. So that SAME day, I pick them up, she has ALL of their stuff packed and this attached to a paper to dismiss them.

The last picture shows what SHE (Yolanda Brown) wrote as the reason to dismiss them:” Parent has request that YPLC (Yolandas PLAYHAUS and Learning Center) can not accommidate”. (She spelled accommodate wrong) Sooo you mean to tell me you’re unable to fulfill the requests that’s going to keep my children safe? This is beyond me. No other explanation, no warning , no time to find another daycare etc. I just paid $150 in registration fees less than a month ago for an ENTIRE YEAR.

They don’t wipe them properly when changing them. When my toddler was still in pull ups at the time, there were SEVERAL times poop was left in her butt crack, she would be dry or just pee in there, and when I will take her to the bathroom at home and wipe her, there would be poop marks on the tissue. Y’all know how you can tell when a baby has not been wiped all the way. Wasn’t just a one time thing. At least 5-6 times, that’s unsanitary. My infant as well has had the same issue with her diapers all last week. I’ve also witnessed one of them changing a toddler without using gloves MORE THAN once and they’re supposed to wear them per Yolanda Brown.

My toddler has also had a total of THREE BRAIDS pulled out from her SCALP in the last 3 weeks. Took forever to get a response on how it happened, she has cameras and took forever to get back with me. I was going to remove them because of this, once I went into her office to tell her that, then that’s when she told me what happened on the cameras. So you knew all along but didn’t update me ? Why exactly???
And this third incident that happened last week, I have yet to get an update on the camera footage or how it happened and this third time, My toddler had red and pink spot where it was pulled and a big bald spot in the area. The first two times they tried to blame the fact she had beads in her hair, the third time, she had hair balls so what’s the reason now ? Try to say My toddler May have done it cuz she was pulling on her hair balls. My child wouldn’t be able to do that to herself , it would hurt too bad. But they have failed to try to review the cameras.

Since then, I’ve been calling to check on my fees getting refunded, the footage for the incident and I have breastmilk still in their freezer that they did not give back to me. I keep getting the run around when I call, “she’s not in right now “ “she’s on lunch” “she’s doing this or that” . So now today, I was told this morning ,” she’s on vacation until Wednesday “. Why are you leaving the center despite what’s going on? I need answers and I need answers now! I do NOT play about my babies !

And get this,a few hours after hanging up the phone with the Administrator ( Catrina Conley-Brookover) I get a call from Vandalia Police department saying that she said I have been calling and yelling at them. (????) I laugh because she deliberately LIED on me. I have not yelled not once out of the 2-3 times I’ve called since last Tuesday. Have I sounded upset? Sure and rightfully so.She told them I was yelling and being belligerent. She also told them thy don’t want me calling up there anymore or coming up there. So I can’t checkup on the status of the investigation of my child’s injury or get my breast milk?Since when does calling to check on an incident where your child was injured and calling about picking up breastmilk being belligerent ?
One thing I HATE with a passion is being LIED ON. Y’all can be mad all y’all want that I’m a concerned parent who don’t play about her kids, but one thing I’m not going to tolerate is being lied on, and my kids safety being at risk.

So if your kids go there , PLEASE keep an eye on them, ask them questions. Be careful not to be too concerned or tell the daycare anything they may be doing unsafe or wrong , or she’ll kick your kids out with no notice but require a two weeks notice if you choose to switch your kids????

Edit to add: She talks about parents to other parents and to her staff: very unprofessional! She’s twisted my OWN words up to me to my face so I can imagine what she tells her staff when I bring up my concerns.
Also My toddler isn’t the only child that whole braids have been snatched from their scalp. If you know kids are pulling braids when they are being confined to a table they’re strapped in for lunch or for when y’all need to clean the room, why keep allowing it????? Every other daycare that does family style eating at a regular table seems to be doing just fine with handling the kids that way so they’re not confined to a strapped seat to eat. Isn’t that hard teach kids to not get up while eating, otherwise every other daycare wouldn’t be doing family style lunch.

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

Horrible from beginning to end! Unprofessional, overpriced, did not provide lunches or snacks, parents forced to buy "daycare supplies" which went upwards of $200. Information was not given to parents then parents were scolded by staff for not knowing. Parents on private pay were made to enroll in daycare payment program. Even after verbally stating my child would not be back money was continually taken out of my account because I didn't hand deliver a letter to director causing me to be charged $383 that I didn't owe & they refuse to refund. Was told privately that if I took my son anyplace else in Vandalia he would be treated differently because he was biracial and only there would he be treated well! It was a horrible experience!

The center is amazing center, the teachers love educating children. It is the cleanest center I have ever been too. They do so much for the children and have an excellent preschool program. The also teach sign language and Spanish in all of the classrooms. My family loves it here,if your children are not here they are missing out.
