My 2 star review is based solely on the owner, Andrea not providing a refund on deposit related to fears of sending our baby to Compass based on COVID 19. I cannot comment on their actual childcare. Our baby never even attended Compass and we cancelled 6 weeks in advance giving plenty of time to fill spot. I would have given them 1 star except the worker ( I cannot recall her name) who called me was very professional and polite.
We signed up our baby in February prior to Covid 19 being declared a pandemic for our child to start day care in Mid-May, 2020. We understood at that time that it is a non refundable deposit. We contacted Compass yesterday giving 6 weeks notice that we will not be sending our child to Compass due to fears about COVID 19. I asked that they make an exception to their no refund of deposit policy due to COVID 19. If Covid 19 was not a reality I would not have asked for a refund. Compass apparently screens their workers, parents, and children however they do not follow people home and asymptomatic people can be carriers. The owner did not even call me herself but made one of her workers (who was very nice and professional) call me to inform me that they will not provide a refund.
I find the owner's behavior to be unprofessional, callous, greedy, and completely insensitive. They offered that we can enroll our child at Compass on a different date however after the owner's behavior I would never send my child to Compass. To top it off, the owner did not even call me personally to have a conversation. Very disappointing.

About the Provider

We offer preschool curriculum for 3-5 year olds. Infants and toddlers thrive in a structured learning environment with teaching toys and individual attention. The Mission at Compass Preschool & Childcare is to provide a quality childcare experience for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Our goal is to promote each child's physical, emotional and social well-being. It is also to provide language and cognitive development in a positive, stimulating and nurturing environment. This is done by maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy atmosphere. At the same time, we offer an abundance of love, positive reinforcement and encouragement. We want the children to feel safe, secure, and valued. This will promote their self-confidence, their willingness to explore and try new things, and will help them develop and maintain relationships. Children who attend Compass Preschool & Childcare feel like this is their home away from home. My Philosophy: At Compass, emphasis is placed on active, hands-on learning experiences. My goal is to prepare youngsters for kindergarten, and get them excited about the process of learning. Children have daily opportunities to interact with their environment in a well-rounded balance of educational and play activities designed to promote their development in each of the six major developmental areas: 1. Large Motor Development 2. Small Motor Development 3. Social/Emotional Development 4. Language Development 5. Cognitive Development 6. Self-Help Skills For more information, or to visit our facility, call 801.262.1147 or email inquiries to [email protected]
