During the walk through the center appeared to be friendly, and the teachers seemed to be okay. Sharon, the center's director, and the owner appeared to be organized and accepting of a diverse environment. I called Sharon several times to receive prices to prepare for my child's first day. Every time I called, she stated she was about to contact me or she was preparing for my son's first day. Sharon stated that during three different phone conversations, I would receive an email with the details of the pro-rated cost and what to bring on my son's first day. I never received a call or an email. The day my child was supposed to start, she never even called to question why my son was not there... I called her today, and she stated she has been dealing with death in her family for the past week and has been absent from work? I spoke to her ... She never mentioned this issue and stated, " quite frankly, the death in my family is more important than getting back to you." I feel because my son is black, I am a single mom; we were not welcome and not good enough for better communication and to attend her learning center. I received a high commendation from a very prestigious person... maybe my son and I do not fit into that category to be respected, treated as equal, and not be lied to or mislead.
I trusted this provider to care for my child but should not have. They were have one adult supervising all the children in the center at times. I was shocked. My child came home and reported to me that a teacher was mean to her. I witnessed her frustration in caring for my child. I spoke to the director and she assured me that she was dealing with the problem but actually did nothing. Needless to say that my child will be going elsewhere from this point forward.
