I have used this provider for less than 6 months

We started the second week of April and agreed to $1024 a month for my 2 yr old. One month later they increased to $1124. During this month the center closed the 2 yr old room due to staffing twice. To rewind. We wanted to start the first week of April but we had to get pushed a week due to staffing. During this month that we were there staff was quitting. One teacher in my sons room stated she was leaving because they didn’t know what they were doing. My son was put on. An antibiotic for a deep sinus infection and it hurt his stomach.

Jennifer the director said due to infection control he had to be out for 48hrs. I asked if we could provide a note from the doctor stating that this was from his antibiotic as it’s the side affect and she said no he had to be out. When I questioned about the credit for the days the 2 yr old room was closed due to staffing and for them forcing us to keep him out 48 hours Jennifer got mad. Then when I brought up the price increase when we have only been there one month she told me “we aren’t going to see eye to eye so today is going to be your child’s last day”. She then proceeded to say, after I asked her why when I’m asking for stability and credits that she said we would receive “I’m making the call that today is his last day”.

I definitely would not recommend this place at all! The teachers were not actively potty training and the children were served pop tarts one morning for breakfast. When I questioned that, I was met with attitude as well. Jennifer stated that she was running a business and decided to do the increase because they were priced lower than all other centers. 100% a lie. Only one center in knightdale is currently priced higher than them at 1300 a month and the others are lower. Being a single mother of two and a federal law enforcement officer I don’t work a position we’re at 7am when dropping my child off I can call and tell my job I can’t come in because daycare doesn’t have staffing.

Also, as a 100% self paying with no assistance parent you would think Jennifer the director would have common sense to say this family hasn’t been here over a month and they agreed to $1024 it’s not right to increase their fees when I’m increasing fees because my staff keeps quitting. Poor communication and attitude is what you will get from this center. It looks nice and pretty but that’s where it ends and is where your money goes. It’s not about the kids or the parents. If you’re looking for stability and family friendly this isn’t the place.

Oh not to mention another family left for some of the same reasons. Jennifer video called with them and when Jessica asked her if she wanted to video with me Jennifer’s statement was “not she just needs to get her things and leave the property”. Good luck with this place.

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

My daughter has been at Widewaters for just over 3 years now, and we have been very happy with our experience. She just turned 4 and she not only knows her letters and numbers, but she can do simple addition, subtraction, and multiplication and can write her name. She has learned so many other things as well. We do work with her at home, but I credit Widewaters with much of her learning. Her pediatrician says that developmentally she is pacing a year ahead and is already prepared for Kindergarten. I get a report at the end of every day showing what she ate, and they feed them healthy choices. Also, Miss Tracy is the only person that can get my little one to eat broccoli! The director there is great! She addresses issues in a timely manner and tries to work with the parents. I greatly appreciate that she is concerned with providing a safe and nurturing environment for all of the children. Unfortunately, when there is a problem, parents often react badly rather than take responsibility for their child's behavior. I'm not talking about normal childhood acting out on occasion, I'm talking about serious problems that the parents are incapable of stopping...for example...biting. There was a child that was biting in class with my child at one time and although given multiple chances to correct the behavior, the parents were unable to stop their child from biting. With the safety of the other children in mind, this child was no longer allowed back. I was grateful as my child had been bitten twice and clearly the parents had no control over their child. However, the parents were upset with the center when they should have been upset with themselves. It is my suspicion that some of these negative reviews are written by parents that are on vouchers that couldn't afford to go there any other way, and they have had disciplinary issues with their children. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with vouchers, but often times these parents are not as present in their children's lives. This is so sad to me because parents should make ample time to spend with their children to keep them on track...it is not the job of a childcare center or school to raise your children. If you don't have time to spend with your children and nurture them through time and activities then what is the point of having children...it is just sad. I would recommend Widewaters to anyone looking for a nurturing environment for their child where they will truly learn, not just be babysat for the day. They are expensive, but you get what you pay for, and I am willing to invest in my child's care and education.

Widewaters Learning Center appears great from the outside looking in. However there is a high turn over rate for staff due to management. One particular manager is very narrow minded and offensive at times to employees and parents who children attend the center. At times Widewaters is so short staffed that they hire teachers and allow them to begin work before completing the application process and before their background check clears. Which contributes to the high turn over rate. The toddler playground is not safe for the children. Management is so concerned with sticking to a budget that often times the children are served salad for lunch with chopped lunch meat inside. From management's standpoint, the children are not what is most important, its about the money. I would NOT recommend Widewaters to any family.

very clean, retro appearance.  good menu.  good sercurity.  nice educated staff.  fun festivals.  over priced.  High tern over rate of employees.  one employee said she often works 8hour shifts with no break/lunch.  Owner is young, fake, defensive, and cares mostly about the business.  I was politely reminded to be thankful to her for allowing me into her daycare while on vouchers.  A friend of mine w tattoos applied to their hiring ad, she was looked at in disgust and denied.  A different latino friend with 3 kids applied for her kids to attend, but "they were full", clearly a lie since they were trying to fill spots.  My child was forgotten to be picked up from school at least twice.  Overall, good daycare, but management could use some improvement.  its a small world in knightdale and word goes around fast.

This center is new and fresh and perhaps that is the reason they feel they can charge and outrageous price. Lovely center however not much of a playground for kids, and grossly overpriced in my opinion. Staff did seem friendly.
