About the Provider

UCLC is licensed through the state of North Dakota as a childcare and preschool. UCLC cares for children between the ages of 18 months and 5 years old. The program is part of the ND Bright and Early quality enhancement program and is in the process of recertifying as a Step 4 Program, which is the highest rank that is available. UCLC’s curriculum is centered around emergent curriculum. Emergent curriculum lessons are planned based on topics/themes that are derived from children’s interests, which have been observed by teachers, or by children’s developmental needs. Within the constructs of the curriculum, social skills, motor skills, cognitive skills, language, and pre-literacy skills, and more are infused into the lessons. Teachers regularly ask open ended questions related to the topic and use that as the foundation from which to build curriculum that scaffolds children’s learning, enlarging their knowledge about the topics while completing lessons that require many of the skills as listed previously.
