At the time of the incident, student was under the supervision of teaching staff and staff was within sight and sound of the children at all times in accordance with our supervision procedures. To ensure continued compliance and to strengthen consistency in supervision practices, all teaching staff have been re-trained on active supervision requirements, including positioning, scanning, counting and maintaining sight and sound supervision at all times indoors and outdoors. Given the object was unnoticed for 20 seconds despite supervision protocol being in place, staff were also retrained on our safe environment- small part test policy, as it addresses the responsibility of staff to ensure all items in their classroom meet safety requirements. |
