About the Provider

The Heights Center is a place where at-risk children learn character and integrity, where they are nurtured and encouraged, as they discover and Camp 2013 36experience the visual and performing arts. The Center is a resource for family strengthening, lifelong learning, and community celebration.

Partnerships assure the Center is reaching the 1,200 Harlem Heights kids and their families. Senior Friendship Centers provides our low income seniors with a hot lunch and social time. The Heights Foundation and the Harlem Heights Improvement Association work with other agencies, community organizations and churches to bring literacy, GED, and computer classes, employment training, as well as medical screenings. The Arts Hall and conference and meeting rooms are available to organizations. We are excited about the myriad of learning opportunities the Center brings to the community. The cycle of poverty can be broken. Help us give at-risk kids the tools to lead purposeful lives.

In 2013 the Heights Foundation and their partners provided summer camp for 139 children, 39,600 hours of after school care and 445 backpacks filled with supplies. Enriching after school and summer camp programs, literacy classes and early learning play groups helped children succeed in school. Adults in the Heights neighborhood benefited from financial education, Financial Peace training and volunteer tax assistance. We operate The Heights Medical Clinic in collaboration with Volunteers in Medicine and Senior Friendship Centers and have expanded our health advocacy programs. We continue to grow our collaborations with other agencies and are proud to serve as the lead agency for the Harlem Heights United Way House.
