Not a good overall option for child daycare in the South Fort Myers area, when it came to our toddler. With that being said, there are only a few caring individuals at the Growing Room — great caregivers with compassion that have answered to a higher calling; the rest just seem to be there for all the of the wrong reasons and simply do not care. All they do is react with great annoyance when something is asked of them. The administration fails to promptly provide incident reports and does not do so until it is called out on its lack of due diligence. The excuse is either “we forgot” or “we did not get around to it”. The staff is ill-equipped to answer any legitimate questions and address any valid parental concerns. They all come across as very intimidated and/or irritated when the status quo is questioned and they refuse to discuss anything via email and in writing. The center director cannot even conference solo and has to be held by the hand of a regional director. This center is not accommodating to working parents: they will schedule an early closure on the eve of Thanksgiving (3pm) and will also keep the center closed on Black Friday without any proration, leaving parents to make alternate arrangements, while being charged for the entire week — highway robbery in broad daylight! Fresh fruits and vegetables are not provided — mostly everything is from a can and is basically processed food. The children that are picked up close to the end of the day (during the last hour or so of 5pm-6pm) are usually pushed up and down a hallway in a buggy with poop in their diapers and nobody’s nose is even irritated by the smell.
I have seen on camera teachers being lazy to the point where they kick boppy pillows and toys out of the way instead of picking them up with their hands. I have also witnessed cellphone usage when instead all eyes were supposed to be on the children. The question is do you really want to entrust your child to these people? For us, the answer was no which is why we withdrew our toddler from the Growing Room of Fort Myers. You let your own conscience decide.
