Head Start is a federally-funded program providing preschool education and ensuring that bothÿ children and parents are prepared for kindergarten and life-long learning. Desiring to help all children succeed, many resources are brought together to assist the children and their families through either direct service or referral. With a goal of enhancing social and cognitive development, SCCAA strives to provide activities that help children grow mentally, socially, emotionally, and physically. Head Start offers part-day classes in the morning and afternoon. Full-day classes are also offered to children of parents meeting certain qualifying criteria. Services are available at no cost as long as the children are part of an income-eligible household.
