Description: St. Louis Children's Hospital Child Development Centers offer children a warm, nurturing environment with a variety of learning experiences to promote individual growth and development," said Rosalyn Kleinberg, manager of SLCH Child Development Programs. "Children learn through play, and learning is enhanced when children actively participate in meaningful experiences. The curriculum is tailored to each child's age and developmental level and is challenging and fun to ensure a child's involvement.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.

Write a review about St. Louis Children's Hospital. Let other families know what’s great, or what could be improved. Please read our brief review guidelines to make your review as helpful as possible.
Both of my kids have attended the Newstead CDC, and I've been generally pretty pleased. The staff have always been good to my children and the management has been equally fine. Our family is on a first name basis with the director and many of the other staff. With regard to education, it is true that it is not a school. They have a curriculum of activities (that they publish in a newsletter) which focuses on different aspects of a child's development. Once your child is three or so, you could find other childcare options that provide more of a school experience (St. Michael's in Clayton for example) but I know many parents who have opted to keep their children at Newstead until they reach Kindergarten and many of them have tested into gifted programs such as Kennard. I'm not sure why the previous two reviewers gave them such bad marks, but from my experience, it's a good option for childcare if you are working for the Barnes-Jewish/St. Louis Children's Hospital system.
Just a daycare rather than a real child development center. My daughter didn't learn much there. Besides, I was overcharged there. I was told some mistake will be corrected and I'll get money back. But I was cheated and I got the same bill, which made me very angry. My daughter's best friend left. I am going to find a new place for my daughter as well.
The facility and some of the workers are nice, but the desk staff and director are rude. They are unprofessional and have a horrible attitude. I classify this center as a day care not a child development center. For the length of time my child attended, I never received writings or artwork. I was warned by a coworker about the facility, but gave them the benefit of the doubt.
