Description: Established in 1970, the Southwest Parent Child Collective (SWPCC) is a vibrant cooperative preschool run completely by parents. SWPCC provides a nurturing environment for young children to grow socially, learn to cooperate and resolve conflicts, make choices, explore, experiment, and create within safe limits. Learning unfolds naturally at our hands-on, play-based co-op. Professional teachers work with parents to guide children in developmentally appropriate activities including dramatic play, art, music, construction and block play, manipulative toys, cooperative games, storytelling, cooking, creative movement, and outdoor free play.
SWPCC offers a 4 hour per day preschool. Children from 2 to 5 years old can attend up to four days a week; children between 1 and 2 years old can attend up to three days a week. Prospective members should plan to make 2 two-hour visits to the co-op before joining. You and your child will enjoy seeing our classrooms and meeting the children and teacher.
SWPCC is affiliated with Parent-Child Preschools of Oregon. SWPCC is committed to an anti-biased and multicultural play curriculum and welcomes diversity in its member families. SWPCC does not discriminate on the basis of race, national or ethnic origin, gender, religious preference, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, language, age, color, veteran status or family composition.
